Key Garden Projects & Needs

The Garden Design Committee conducted sessions with gardeners, neighbors, and supporters to help us create our long-term design goals for the garden.  This vision was an essential first step in quantifying our fundraising needs.

In the last few years, new perimeter retaining walls and a crushed-stone surface for the garden work area have been installed – thanks in part to generous support from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) and a lot of volunteer effort.

Below are some of the projects we are currently working on as well as some of the aspirations and challenges moving forward.

  • Repair/replacement of old raised planting beds
  • Central, shaded gathering area for community activities, teaching and fundraising events
  • Bulk storage bays (2 – 10’x10’)
  • Expanded composting
  • Storage building
  • Utility water and electric service
  • ADA accessible central paths
  • Shade structures both east and west of the cherry trees
  • Permanent accessible beds

Most of the labor for these projects will be contributed by gardeners, but the cost of materials must come from our budget.

Please help us preserve our space as we plan together for our future!
